Three Montenegrin teams to battle for EuroLeague crown

One game day is still left in the Preliminary Round of EuroLeague, but all three teams from Montenegro have already advance to the quarter-finals of the top-class competition in European club waterpolo. In the matches of day 5 the team of PVK Budva “M:TEL” gained an 11-9 victory against Greek series champion Olympiacos Piraeus to the secure the second place in Group B after Serbian powerhouse VK Partizan “Raiffeisen“ Belgrade. The final game day will be held 3 March with eight Wednesday night matches.

After day 5, six teams already made it to the round of last eight: Italian champion Pro Recco, Partizan Raiffeisen Belgrade and Spanish powerhouse CN Atlètic Barceloneta are joining three teams from Montenegro - VK Primorac Kotor, VK Jadran CBK Herceg Novi and PVK Budva. One famous club from Croatia, HAVK Mladost Zagreb, already had to say good-bye after a 7-8 loss to Barceloneta in the crucial away match.
 
On game day 6 to be held on 3 April there will be two head-to-head duels for the two remaining quarter-final berths being held at marvellous waterpolo pools. In Group B, 2006 champion VK Jug “Croatia Osiguranje” Dubrovnik from Croatian, the first winner of the trans-national Adriatic League in 2009, will face Hungarian champion “Teva” Vasas-Plaket Budapest. There will be one name in the round of last eight in any case, as Hungarian representative ZF Eger will face Russia´s Sintez Kazan in the clash for the second place in Group D.
