However, what kind of climax can it really be? Szolnok and Eger have been as dominating as can be and are at least 6 points ahead of the nearest rival. By now the teams are 4 games into the final stage of the competition and it does not look like the standings will be changing a lot during the last 4 games. To clarify the competition set-up one last time, during this stage of the competition, the teams play a home and an away game against the teams they did not meet in the first phase of the competition. It means that OSC, FTC, Honvéd, and Vasas, play against Szolnok, Eger, Szeged, and BVSC. Points collected earlier in the season are kept and added to the points collected during these games. Finally, the number 1 and 2 play for the championship gold. Round 1 Home Visitors Final Score OSC BVSC 14-6 Szolnok Vasas 15-6 Eger Honvéd 15-8 FTC Szeged 12-11 Round 2 Home Visitors Final Score Szolnok FTC 19-10 BVSC Honvéd 14-9 Vasas Szeged 4-16 OSC Eger 9-11 Round 3 Home Visitors Final Score Szeged OSC 5-12 Eger Vasas 19-9 Honvéd Szolnok 4-10 FTC BVSC 10-6 Round 4 Home Visitors Final Score Honvéd Szeged 7-8 Eger FTC 15-7 Vasas BVSC 7-7 Szolnok OSC 13-10 With the previous group B considered the “weaker” group, Szolnok and Eger are comfortably heading towards the final at this moment. In the current standings Szolnok is leading Eger by 6 points, and Eger is leading OSC again with 6 points. The chances of Eger losing 2 out of the next 4 games are inferior. OSC is absolutely giving its rivals a good game, but comes up just too short every time. Yesterday’s clash with the league leaders was decided in favor of Szolnok only after a 4 minute exclusion without substitution for OSC’s Adám Decker at an 8-9 score. It is the story of this season so far. There seems to be one team to rule them all. Szolnok slipped up only once during the final of the Magyar Kupa which cost them the gold. Eger showed that on a good day, in a head to head contest, they are capable of defeating their antagonist. But in a multi-game contest, Szolnok has proven superior so far. The next 2 games are played on March 8 and March 14 after which there will be a break to focus on the Olympic qualification tournament in Trieste, and the last 2 games are played on April 20 and April 23. Then we will know for certain who will play the final to crown the 2016 champion of Hungary.
