08 Feb Euro League quarterfinals draw By: Tim Hartog Women, Euro League The two Greek teams will face Russia opponents while two Spanish quarterfinalists take on Hungarian squads in the women's Euro League quarterfinals, as was unveiled on Monday in the draw held at the LEN Office in Nyon, Switzerland following last weekend's preliminary stage being played. Here Russian champs Kirishi won group A and will now face Vouliagmeni, 2nd in group C, in the quarterfinals which will be opened with leg 1 on February 17 and the return matches ten days later. Fellow Greek side Olympiacos, winners of group C and reigning champions, take on Uralochka Zlatoust who settled for 2nd place in group A behind Kirishi during the prelims in a match-up where Olympiacos find themselves in a favourite-role once more. Last year's runners-up Sabadell, who won group D in Lille over the weekend, will now meet Szentes, 2nd in group B, while fellow Spaniards Mataro, face group B winners UVSE in a tough encounter with the latter two match-ups perhaps being the closest ones expected. Like last season the quarterfinals winners will advance to the Euro League Final Four, while the losers gather to play for the LEN Trophy in a Final Four tournament with each of the locations to be announced after February 27.
