Three-horse title race in Great Britain

Three teams – City of Manchester, reigning champions Cheltenham and Lancaster – will be chasing the title when the British League’s men’s Super 5s concludes at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, on 13 and 14 February.
Manchester eased through the latest weekend of matches at Luton thanks to victories over Invicta and Bristol Central – each with an identical score of 14-6. The Bristol match was effectively settled in the opening period, when Manchester blasted their way to a 7-0 lead.

Cheltenham defeated Invicta, 13-8. And, crucially, they beat old rivals Lancaster for the second time – 12-8. Lancaster never really threatened after trailing 5-2 early on and 11-3 towards the end of the third period. In their other match, Lancaster held off a late rally from Bristol to win 17-16.
Liverpool Lizards continue to dominate the women’s Super 5s. They had to work hard for a 10-9 success against City of Coventry but outplayed Scottish representatives Caledonia 17-5. Coventry were 5-1 down against London club Otter but fought back to draw 5-5 with a goal 17 seconds from the end by Rhianne Oscroft. For results and tables form the latest matches in the UK, see
