Belgrade 2016 top scorers

His team finished 15th at their first European Championships. But Steven Camilleri returned home with a nice individual recognition. The Malta shooter concluded the Belgrade 2016 tournament as top scorer hitting 21 times in 2 weeks of competition at the Kombank Arena. Camilleri succeeds Albert Español who was top scorer of the 2014 Europeans in Budapest scoring 24 goals. Español this time took a joint 9th place with 14 goals, along with, among others, team-mate Guillermo Molina. Finishing 2nd this time was Denes Varga who scored 19 for Hungary. The top 3 was concluded by Andrija Prlainovic. The tournament's Most Valuable Player and gold medal winner contributed 18 goals to the win for Serbia while also leading the assists rankings with 22.

Top scorer for the women was Rita Keszthelyi, also winner of the gold medal with Hungary. She led the competition with 23 goals. Finishing 2nd was Roberta Bianconi with 21 for Italy while Russia's Ekaterina Lisunova and Dutch captain and tournament MVP, Yasemin Smit netted 20 shots for 3rd place.
