Record attendance at Belgrade 2016 final

The number was subject to discussion but finally came out on Monday. Head of the local organising committee, Darko Udovicic, confirmed that the men's final of the 2016 European Championships in the Kombank Arena was live watched by 18,473 specatators; a new record. It surpassed the 17,000 who attended the women's final of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney where the home team captured the gold medal. On Saturday also the home team won, this time the Serbian men defeating neighbours Montenegro 10-8 for their 3rd straight European title.
