Followed by 2015 LEN Award winner Roberta Bianconi (Italy) and left-handed Vivian Sevenich (Netherlands), both with 16 goals. By the way: all three are playing in cap number 8. In the men's tournament also a Hungarian, Denes Varga led the top scorers’ list after the prelims (netted 8 goals in three matches) and he is still on top after two phases of the knock-out stage (17). Rita Keszthelyi is on the best way to achieve a hat-trick as the top scorer of the respective Europeans. In Eindhoven 2012 and two years later in her home-town Budapest she finished atop with 19 goals on both occasions. And there were further similarities: the Magyar women finished both events with a bronze medal. The most goals ever in the women’s Europeans were scored by the Dutch Alice Lindhout, 31 goals 1993 in Leeds, when the Netherlands received their fourth and till date last gold medal. Source: LEN.
