28 Dec Installation of Belgrade 2016 swimming pools started By: Tim Hartog National Teams, European Championships On Sunday, in the Kombank arena, the installation and set up of the swimming pools for the European Water Polo Championship Belgrade 2016 has begun. Two prefabricated pools will be set up; 1 competition pool with the dimensions of 34mx21m and 1 warm-up pool with the dimensions of 25mx15m. The set up of the pools will run from December 27th to January 4th, so that the construction of the pool deck at length of almost 1,500 square meters around the pool will be set up as soon as possible. The initial filling of the pool is planned for the 4th of January, when about 1,300 cubic meters of water will be poured into the two swimming pools. Filling and heating of the water will last 36 hours. Darko Udovicic, Director of the company European Water Polo Championships Belgrade 2016, who attended the installation of the pool said that the organizers were ready. Mr. Udovicic took this opportunity to thank the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, and the President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic for their support. The start of the set up of the pools was also attended by Rasa Ristivojević, Chairman of the Executive Board of the European Water Polo Championships Belgrade 2016. He got in touch with Head Coach for the Serbian National Team, Dejan Savic, who asked about the progress of the entire organization, he told him that they were ready and that the ball was now on his side of the court. The heads of the organization of the upcoming Championships expressed their satisfaction with the sale of tickets and thanked all the volunteers for their support. After the end of the European Championships on the 23rd of January, the dismantling of the pools will start and last up to four days. In May, the pools will be ready to be set up at their new location in Vrnjacka Banja, where they will become part of the National Water Polo Center. Source: belgrade2016.rs.
