Partizan beats OSC

Thanks to a goal by Norbert Hosnyanszky with over a minute remaining ZF-Eger were able to walk away from Herceg Novi with a point finishing tied with Jadran 11-10 in round 4 of the Champions League preliminary phase, on Wednesday. Hosnyanszky scored the 2nd consecutive goal by the visitors who came back from trailing 11-9 after Stefan Pjesivac scored an action goal at the 5.42 mark in the final quarter. Quick to reply however was Balazs Erdelyi netting his 2nd of the night in the following possession for Eger. The Hungarians could not convert on a man-up with 4 minutes to go but ultimately managed to tie as Hosnanyanszky scored what proved to be the game's final goal for the 11-11 final score. Nikola Janovic led all scorers with 4 for the home side, while Hosnyanszky was top scorer for the visitors netting a triple.
Both teams however were seeking three points which for both would be very welcome in the standings of group A. Eger misses the chance to join the group leaders while Jadran could surpass Spandau persueing Eger.

Behind 6 goals from Denes Varga Szolnok controlled their match-up with Galatasaray in Istanbul for the 7-14 win. The Hungarians controlled the match more or less but only in the final period really began to walk away. It created the seemingly convincing 7-goal win which looked comfortable and has Szolnok now tied Jug Dubrovnik on points in group B. Galatasaray meanwhile remains pointless in last position in the group. Centre forward Slobodan Nikic once more topped the Turkish side scorers netting 2.

The young Partizan group, marked the club's financial trouble this and past season, got a huge lift on Wednesday as the second win so far this campaign was reached at home. Partizan held off a late OSC surge in the final period thanks to an important goal by Luuk Gielen and topped the Hungarians 5-4. The consolation goal was scored by Adam Decker for his 2nd of the game with just a minute remaining but the visitors could not do more than that. Partizan held on and saw their 4-1 lead in the 3rd quarter just being enough. The hit by Dutch international Gielen in the final period proved key in the win for the Serbs who posted their 2nd triumph this campaign in group B now comfortably in 4th position.
