Barcelona tops Mataro Quadis

The 11th round of the Spanish league, already started last Tuesday with Barceloneta kicking off the action due to their Champions League duties on Saturday, was marked by some striking results of the top teams. Barcelona took over 4th place on the table now being tied with Mataro Quadis in points after defeating that same team 12-11 in a thriller on Saturday. A little comeback in the final period helped the home team overcome a 9-10 deficit after 3 periods, and 6 goals from Robin Lindhout, which proved decisive in the end as Barcelona celebrated the narrow victory. Lukas Duric (4 goals) and Joel Esteller (pictured) combined for 7 hits in the win. Third-ranked Real Canoe was held to a little surprising 10-10 draw by Catalunya in Madrid as now the 4th, 5th and 6th placed teams in the rankings are coming close. Sabadell returned to winning ways holding off Sant Andreu at home late, thanks to a 4-1 run in the final quarter. The two bottom ranked teams squared off with Rubi winning a solid 10-4 for just their first win of the season while Sant Feliu remains pointless. Earlier the week Barceloneta continued winning this time beating Terrassa who dropped to 6th place: 8-11. Albert Español (4 goals) and Strahinja Rasovic were on their usual tear and responsible for the majority of goals of the defending champion.
