Brescia holds off Roma Vis Nova, Savona tops Trieste

The 7th round in the Italian league was kicked off on Friday with the nationally televised match, this time featuring Savona and Trieste. And the viewers as well as the fans in the pool got themselves a treat as both teams proved to be well levelled but home team Savona in the end came out victorious 12-11. With Jacopo Alesiani (pictured) as top scorer for the winners, it was a team-mate of his that scored the game's final goal. Kristijan Milakovic after a timeout and exclusion for Trieste netted a nice shot to give his team the three points with just four seconds remaining.
Elsewhere Brescia continued their unbeaten run but saw Roma Vis Nova making a nice comeback in the second half after the visitors dominated the first. Leading 2-9 at half-time the title contenders looked to be in the driver's seat but in the end won the game 'just' by 2 goals as the home team crawled back in the 3rd and 4th session. Christian Presciutti was the top scorer for the winners with 3 goals. Acquachiara added 3 welcome points as they held off Florentia in a high-scoring game 10-13. The brothers Stefano and Michele Luongo combined for 8 goals in the win each netting 4. CC Napoli consolidated their 5th position holding RN Sori scoreless for 3 quarters in an 8-3 victory. Big for the winners was lefty Luigi di Costanzo who contributed 3 hits to the win. Defending champs Pro Recco had no trouble overcoming Ortigia in Syracusa. After a dominating first-half performance the visitors eased through the second half to beat Ortigia 4-12. Alex Giorgetti took off for 4 goals in the win.
Posillipo and Sport Management made no mistake. The teams remained tied in points on the 3rd and 4th spot in the rankings each recording a win. Sport Management at home used a convincing first half to down Lazio 13-7. With league top scorer Antonio Petkovic scoring 5 goals the home side virtually decided the outcome in the first half but continued to walk away in the third session to set the difference in the final score at 6 goals. Posillipo followed the example by beating Bogliasco, despite a right 2-3 deficit after the first quarter. Posillipo pushed through in the following 2 sessions, led by Jerko Marinic Kragic who netted 3, as did his team-mate Valentino Gallo.
