© Gertjan Kooij 12 Aug Ranko Perovic resigns as Montenegro head coach By: Tim Hartog National Teams, World Championships Following the team's 5th place finish at the recent 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Montenegro national team head coach Ranko Perovic has resigned from the post, it was announced by the Montenegrin Federation on its website on Wednesday. The 2013 World Championships runner-up in Kazan recorded victories over Japan, Kazakhstan, Australia and Hungary, drew with Australia in the group stage, and was defeated by Serbia and Croatia. Perovic led the team since 2011 and during that period won silver medals at the 2012 European Championships in Eindhoven and 2013 World Championships in Barcelona. The Montenegrin men's team reached the semifinals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and 2014 European Championships in Budapest while also claiming bronze medals at the 2013 and 2014 World League Super Final, in Chelyabinsk and Dubai respectively. Any announcements on Perovic' successor are yet to be made.
