Imperia goes all the way to win LEN Trophy

The home fans had all reason to cheer on Saturday as Imperia went all the way in the self-hosted Final Four to take the LEN Trophy beating fellow Italians Padova 7-8 in a thrilling finish of the two-day Final Four competition in Imperia. Greek side Vouliagmeni took the bronze medal topping Hungarian champions Szentes 10-8. The victory for Imperia was completed after a back-and-forth final. Padova actually had the better starting getting up 2-0 in the opening quarter before things changed in the second term where Imperia rallied back to tie the game 4-4 at half-time. The The blue-capped home side had the control and walked away 2 goals in the third session before in a 5-goal final period Imperia managed to hold on to win by 1. Where Padova had just two goal scorers, with Elisa Queirolo scoring 4 and Laura Barzon adding 3, did Imperia saw 6 different players netting at least a shot with Silvia Motta topping the list scoring 3.
