11 Apr All-Italian LEN Trophy final By: Tim Hartog Women, Euro League, LEN Trophy Both Italian participants rose to the occasion in the LEN Trophy semifinals on Friday in Imperia, Italy and will now play for the LEN Trophy in the final on Saturday completing another all-Italian final in European club competition as fellow Italian men's sides Posillipo and Acquachiara are set to determine the Euro Cup winner in Naples on the same day. Padova in the first of pair of semis eliminated Vouliagmeni in a close game 9-8. Despite a good start and 4-2 after the opening period Vouliagmeni answered after the main break so that Padova needed to show some resillience in order to still win the game. They did and managed to edge the favourite Greeks in the game's final phase to win by the closes margin and secure the final spot. Where they will meet hosts Imperia who held off Hungarian champions Szentes in another close contest: 10-11. Ibolya Miskolczi was on fire for the Hungarians scoring 5 goals but on the other Italian lefty Giulia Emmolo produced her fair share of goals with 4. The home team got to the positive side of the score in the opening period and held on despite Szentes coming real close in the final minutes. Vouliagmeni and Szentes will play for the bronze medal on Saturday before Padova and Imperia will square off in a much anticipated final in Italy at 21.00 hrs local time.
