Budapest 2014 men's qualifiers to start

For multiple European men's national teams the road to next year's European championships will start this week as round one of the qualification phase for the Budapest Europeans kicks off in Tbilisi, Georgia and Odense, Denmark respectively. The third one, to be held in Switzerland, is postponed to May 2013 with a location yet to be decided. After this first round tournament the teams will be redistributed into three new groups, according to the classification obtained. The final ranking (after the next round) will be defined by the sum of the points scored by the teams in the three qualifying tournament groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the next stage of the competition where they will face the 7th-12th teams of the 2012 European Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands which are: Spain, Romania, Croatia, Netherlands, Macedonia and Turkey. The qualifiers second round tournament for the 2014 European Championships are scheduled for July (11-14) and the third (playoffs) in November (07-10). Locations are yet to be decided. The first six teams of the 2012 Europeans in Eindhoven (Serbia, Montenegro, Hungary, Italy, Germany and Greece) are already sure of a spot at the 2014 European Championships.
