Felipe Perrone to play for Fluminense

Fluminense / BNY Mellon looks to contribute to the development of the Brazilian national water polo by making a striking move. After ten years outside of Brazil, Spain's national team star Felipe Perrone has been signed by the squad from his home town and will defend the tricolor in the 2013 Brazilian championship in June for the first of three editions. The player is considered one of the best in the world and has played for some of the top teams in Europe: Pro Recco and Savona in Italy and Barcelona and Barceloneta, both of Spain.

The hiring of Philip, in addition to strengthening the Fluminese squad, opens up an important opportunity for him to come back to play for Brazil, particularly in the 2015 Pan American Games and the ultimately the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ''We are confident that we are taking the first major step in search of a significant result in 2016'', revealed Carlos Carvalho, coordinator and coach of Fluminese / BNY Mellon and supervisor of the Brazilian team.

Felipe will travel to Rio in May to play for Fluminense in the national championship which will be held in June, and with the 2013 World Championships as interruption, Perrone will return to his home country in late July for the final of the national championship. Fluminese is the reigning champion.

With a dual citizenship, Felipe currently plays for the Spanish national team. With the Spaniards he took the fifth place at the London Olympics and was vice-champion of the 2012 World League falling to Croatia after a penalty shootout in the final in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
