18 Jun Four more Barcelona 2013 participants known By: Tim Hartog Men With this year's FINA men's World League Super Final coming to an end on Sunday in Almaty, Kazakhstan, two more sides that qualified for the 2013 FINA World Championships men's tournament in Barcelona, Spain are known. Next to Spain - who finished runners-up on Sunday but was qualified as host city already, World League winners Croatia and bronze medallists Italy are now sure of participating in Barcelona next summer as well. The finalists of the women's World League were known already as the victorious side USA and runners-up Australia can book their tickets to Barcelona. The field of countries will be known even more after the upcoming Olympic Games in London, Great Britain, where the top-4, beside the already mentioned nations, will grab a Barcelona berth. In addition for Europe, the three remaining countries finishing the best at the 2012 European Championships in Eindhoven, The Netherlands will qualify. Those are part of the continental representatives, which are devided as follows: Europe - 3; America - 2; Asia - 2; Africa - 1; and Oceania - 1. According to the FINA rules, any vacancies are to be filled in the following order: Americas, Europe, Host Continent, Asia, Oceania and Africa. The Picornell pool already hosted the water polo event of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Water polo games will take place during 14 days straight, with the men’s and women’s groups taking turns. The finals will be played on August 2nd(women) and 3rd(men) at the Palau Sant Jordi.
