The snow could not stop the Italian Serie A1 from continuing after the recent European Championships last Saturday. And the league started with some notable results already. Last placed Catania gained a 14-13 home win over Ellevi Nervi with Aleksandar Nikolic scoring the winning goal with just six seconds remaining. The big matchup between Brescia and Savona resulted in a 9-7 win for the league’s number four who is now trailing number three Savona just one point. C.N. Posillipo got just a draw in the home match against RN Florentia and is now eight points behind on number four Brescia while Acquachiara reached a narrow 11-12 win at Syracuse. A goal from Predrag Zimonjic, just two seconds before the final whistle, was not enough for Ortigia who is now in ninth place. Leading Pro Recco did not face to many difficulties at Civitavecchia gaining a clear 5-17 win with Andrea Fondelli scoring five goals for the defending champs.
