Dress rehearsal in the Greek country-side

A pretty tough women´s junior tournament for U17 national teams was opened today at Itea, Greece. In the small town located at Central Greece next to the ancient port of Delphi squads from six nations are battling for this year´s trophy of the annual Phytia Cup. Once again, it will be one of the most important dress rehearsals on the way to the upcoming European Junior Championships of this age group to be held 21-28 August at Madrid, Spain.

The first leader is the team from Hungary which already won place at the Olympic Hopes tournament at Prague, Czech Republic two weeks before. Today the players from Eastern Europe took a 12-2 victory against Australia. Home team Greece gained a 9-6 victory against Italy. The upcoming European Championships host downed the Netherlands by three goals, 10-7.
